FOSCAVIR® (foscarnet sodium)
What is it?
FOSCAVIR® contains the drug foscarnet. Foscarnet is in a class of medications called anti-virals which work by stopping viruses from multiplying in number.
FOSCAVIR® is licensed in many markets to treat cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis in HIV patients, aciclovir-resistant mucocutaneous herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections in immunocompromised patients, and CMV viraemia and CMV disease in patients with haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and usually with a resistance to or intolerance to ganciclovir.
